All students must meet with an NLU advisor to go over exact course and program requirements at the time of enrollment. Every student follows the Year 1 & 2 10-course plan according to the sequence discussed with your advisor. Students pursuing a Bachelors (NCCA Program 2) will take a total of 12 courses. Students pursuing a Doctorate (NCCA Program 4) will take a total of 14 courses.
Each student is responsible for registering on time. A copy of the academic calendar is sent via email to current students and is published on the website. Local students (within 60-mile radius of Murfreesboro, TN): The registration deadline is always 15 days prior to the date of the first class meeting.

Upon successful completion of Basic Christian Counseling, you are eligible to register for and take this NCCA Phase I course.

Independent Study
Upon successful completion of Creation Therapy, you are eligible to register for and take this NCCA advanced course.
CHRISTIAN COUNSELING: INTEGRATING TEMPERAMENT AND PSYCHOLOGY

Upon successful completion of Quality, Ethics & Legal Issues, you are eligible to register for and take this NCCA Phase I course.
HELPING CHILDREN WITH GRIEF
Spring Quarter
Upon successful completion of Christian Counseling: Integrating Temperament & Psychology, you are eligible to register for and take this NLU course. Distance students will take Cognitive Therapy Techniques instead.
MASTERING PASTORAL COUNSELING

You must be a Certified Temperament Counselor to be eligible to register for and take this NCCA Phase II course.

COUNSELING THE CODEPENDENT: A CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE UTILIZING TEMPERAMENT

Upon successful completion of Theology of Counseling, you are eligible to register for and take this NCCA Phase II course.
APPLIED SUICIDE INTERVENTION
Summer Quarter
Upon successful completion of Counseling the Codependent, you are eligible to register for and take this NLU course.
COGNITIVE THERAPY TECHNIQUES
Independent Study
This is a required elective for students pursuing a bachelors or doctorate. Distance students in any program will take this course instead of Helping Children with Grief.
TEMPERAMENT PROFILES
APS reports
Upon successful completion of Creation Therapy, you can begin providing temperament counseling with clients. Administering the Arno Profile System (APS) assessment with each client is required and involves running a clinical report. Students pursuing a doctorate need 35 reports. All other students need 25 reports.

Batch payment for the required number of APS reports needed to complete NCCA Phase II and receive pastoral counseling credentials. Remember to schedule supervision. *Certified Temperament Counselors with liability insurance are encouraged to charge clients for profiles.
